A young man was tied to a pole and beaten to death on the charge of stealing a goat

Fatehpur: In Mohankheda village of Malwa police station area, a mob tied a young man to a pole and beat him brutally on suspicion of goat theft. He died during treatment. The family members of the deceased allege that the young man was mentally ill and the mob beat him to death. The deceased has been identified as 40-year-old Manoj Singh Rajput son of late Sarju Singh, resident of village Bhadwa, police station Malwa. According to the family members, Manoj was mentally ill for the last four-five days and jumped out from the roof of the house on Saturday night. During this time he reached Mohankheda village, where some people caught him on suspicion of goat theft and tied him to a pole and started beating him. Manoj’s elder brother Vinod Rajput informed the police. On receiving the information, the police reached the spot and freed Manoj from bondage and took him to CHC Bindki in critical condition early Sunday morning, where he died during treatment. The family has filed a complaint against several people in Malwa police station, calling it a murder. The police has sent the body for post-mortem and has started investigating the case. CO City Gaurav Sharma said that action is being taken in the case on the basis of the complaint. Strict legal action will be taken against the culprits.
