Women have been protesting for five consecutive days demanding closure of the liquor shop in Ghasiyari Tola

For the last five days, women have been protesting outside the liquor shop in Ghasiari Tola, Durgakund, Varanasi. Dozens of women have been sitting outside the liquor shop and protesting. Women clearly say that we will not allow the liquor shop to run here because there is a statue of Baba Bhimrao Ambedkar next to the liquor shop, Sankat Mochan temple is at some distance from it and on the other side there is Manas temple and Durgakund temple. Women will also be mistreated by the people who come to drink alcohol here. Here in Ghasiari Tola, women work who earn money, men take money from them and force them to drink alcohol and fight in the house. To stop this, we have gone to the MLA, Minister, District Officer and Prime Minister’s parliamentary office several times to give letters but our pleas have not been heard. Due to which we are forced to protest here due to compulsion. The women protesting say that if this shop is not closed, we will also protest by taking to the road.
