*Big relief to Bahubali MLA Abhay Singh from Supreme Court, SLP filed in 2010 murderous attack case rejected* Ayodhya. Bahubali MLA Abhay Singh from Gosaiganj assembly seat of Ayodhya has got a big relief from the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court has rejected the special leave petition (SLP) filed in an old murderous attack case of 2010. After hearing the petition, the bench of Justice Sanjay Kumar and Justice Satish Chandra Sharma upheld the decision of the Lucknow High Court and rejected it. This petition was filed by the victim of the attack, Vikas Singh, in which the relief given to Abhay Singh by the High Court was challenged. With the rejection of the petition from the Supreme Court, MLA Abhay Singh has got a big legal relief. What was the case? This case is from Maharajganj police station area of Ayodhya. In the year 2010, a person named Vikas Singh had accused Abhay Singh and his associates of murderous attack. The FIR said that Singh was attacked with weapons, but the case kept getting complicated due to contradictory statements of witnesses and lack of clear facts. Later the case was transferred to Ambedkar Nagar. ?Acquitted after 13 years, the case reached the High Court After a 13-year-long hearing, the Ambedkar Nagar court acquitted all the accused including Abhay Singh on 10 May 2023. After this, Vikas Singh challenged the decision in the Lucknow High Court. During the hearing in the division bench of the High Court, the opinions of two judges – Justice AR Masoodi and Justice Ajay Kumar Srivastava were different. Justice Masoodi convicted Abhay Singh and sentenced him to three years, while Justice Srivastava acquitted him. Due to differences, the matter went to the third judge Justice Rajan Rai. ?Third judge also gave relief, challenged in Supreme Court On March 21, 2025, Justice Rajan Rai also acquitted Abhay Singh, considering the arguments of the prosecution as weak. He said that there was no clarity in the FIR about the time of the attack, the number of attackers and the weapons, while the victim side changed the statements at different times, due to which a situation of doubt remained. *Vikas Singh had challenged this decision in the Supreme Court, but on July 18, the division bench of the Supreme Court rejected the SLP.* ?Political meanings are also big Apart from the legal battle in this case, Abhay Singh is also in the headlines for political reasons. In the Rajya Sabha elections of February 2024, he voted for the BJP candidate by deviating from the line of the Samajwadi Party, due to which he was expelled from the party. Since then, there was speculation about his joining BJP. Now after getting relief from the Supreme Court, the path of BJP is considered easy for him.
