West Indies all-rounder Andre Russell is set to announce his retirement from international cricket. Russell has been included in the squad for the five-match T20 series against Australia starting on Sunday. According to an ESPN report, Russell will announce his retirement from international cricket after the first two matches to be played at his home ground, Sabina Park, Jamaica. Russell was part of the West Indies team that won the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in 2012 and 2016. Since 2019, he has mainly chosen to play in the shortest format (T20I), although he has also recently announced his retirement from international cricket. Andre Russell is a very popular player in various T20 leagues around the world, including the Indian Premier League (IPL), Big Bash League (BBL), Caribbean Premier League (CPL), Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), Pakistan Super League (PSL) etc. Andre Russell has been a key player for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the IPL and is known for his explosive batting. He has played over 140 matches in the IPL and has scored over 2,651 runs, including 12 half-centuries and a highest score of 88*. He has also taken over 123 wickets in the IPL, including best bowling figures of 5/15. He is also the first player to take 4 wickets in an over against Gujarat Titans in IPL-2022. His strike rate is the best among the players who have faced over 500 deliveries in the IPL, which shows his explosive batting ability.
