Fertilizer crisis in Sarpathi Khurd committee, system locked for two weeks, farmers blew the bugle of agitation Padrauna, Kushinagar. The ground reality of the government’s schemes and promises has once again been exposed. There is tremendous anger among the farmers due to not getting fertilizer for the last two weeks in the cooperative society located in Sarpathi Khurd of Vishunpura development block. When dozens of farmers reached the committee in the hope of getting fertilizer, the gate was locked. The farmers got angry at this and they protested strongly against the department outside the committee premises. The farmers allege that there has been a shortage of fertilizer in the committee for a long time and the secretary is often absent. Whenever the fertilizer arrives, it is distributed among a few people arbitrarily, some get 10 bags, some get a tractor full, while small farmers are yearning for a single bag. Jagannath Prasad, Umesh Rai, Harinarayan, Jhagur, Ramnath, Devendra Jaiswal, Sarajuddin, Durgesh Chauhan, Surendra and other farmers involved in the protest said that this situation is extremely shameful and anti-farmer. While raising slogans, the farmers warned that if the committee is not opened within 48 hours and fertilizer is not arranged, they will surround the tehsil headquarters and give a wider form to the movement. The farmers clearly said that now they will not sit quiet. The time for spraying fertilizer on the crop is passing and without fertilizer the hard work will be wasted. The administration will now have to wake up from its sleep, otherwise it will have to face public anger.
