India has responded after US President Donald Trump expressed his desire to make a trade deal with India. Trump had announced that a trade agreement between the US and India would be signed soon, now Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said on this matter, ‘Yes, why not, we would like to make a good agreement with the US. The Indian government has made its stance clear on this matter. India would definitely want to make a good agreement with the US, but some conditions will apply for that. There are still certain limitations for the agriculture and dairy sector in India, which need to be considered.’ What did Trump say about the trade deal? Trump on Sunday (June 29) indicated that a trade deal is likely to be signed with some countries, including India, soon. Trump said that he does not need to extend the July 9 trade deadline. This deadline has been set for those countries that want to make a new trade deal with the US so that higher tariffs can be avoided. He also said on the trade deal with India, this could happen very soon. In an interview with Fox News, Trump said, ‘I don’t think I need to extend the deadline. If we want, we can extend it, no big deal.’ ‘Making an agreement with strong economies is good for us’ The Finance Minister has also made a statement on why a trade deal with America is necessary. He said in an interview with the media, ‘The sooner we make an agreement with strong economies, the better for us, given the position we are in and our target.’ According to Trump, the obstacles in the trade deal between India and America will be removed soon. The agreement may include IT, manufacturing, services, automobile sectors. Although the status of the trade deal between the two countries is not yet clear, information will be revealed soon.
