Landslide in Shimla causes 5-storey building to collapse like a house of cards

Shimla, the capital of Himachal Pradesh, has been receiving heavy rain since late last night. The rain has increased the number of landslides. This morning itself, a 5-storey building in Bhattakufar Mathu Colony in Shimla collapsed like a house of cards due to a landslide. No one was injured in the incident. According to media reports, due to the construction of a forelane, big cracks appeared under the building. Due to which this building was evacuated yesterday itself. This morning, the building collapsed. Due to this, other buildings have also been put at risk. People have been forced to live in fear. People have been evacuated from their homes and shifted to a safe place. So far, no official from the administration has reached the spot. Locals have alleged that the government is constructing a forelane here. However, no safety or precautionary measures have been taken. The foundations of the building are wobbling due to the construction of this forelane. Due to this, this five-storey building collapsed today. Cracks have also appeared in other buildings. The construction of this forelane has put people’s lives in danger without considering the stability of the ground and safety standards.
