Voting for the general and by-elections of Gram Panchayats in the state has been held today. .Today, the voters will decide the candidates in 8,326 Gram Panchayats through ballot papers. About 81 lakh voters in the state will exercise their franchise. The results of these elections will be declared on June 25. Due to the by-elections to Kadi and Visavdar assembly constituencies, Gram Panchayat elections in Kadi, Jotana, Bhensan, Visavdar, Junagadh Rural and Bagasara talukas have been postponed. Animation scam exposed in Gujarat University Elections for 3,656 Sarpanches in Gujarat According to the Election Commission data, out of a total of 4,564 Gram Panchayats, 751 Panchayats have been declared unopposed, while seats in 272 Panchayats have remained vacant due to lack of candidates. Thus, voting has been held in a total of 3,541 panchayats for general, divisional and mid-term elections and in 353 panchayats for by-elections. A total of 3,656 sarpanches and 16,224 members will be elected across the state. Complete arrangements at 10479 polling stations Arrangements have been made at 10,479 polling stations across the state to ensure smooth completion of the voting process. Out of these, 3,939 have been declared sensitive and 336 have been declared hyper-sensitive centres. EPIC card will be mandatory for voters, however, in exceptional circumstances, voting can be done with any of the 14 valid identity documents. Voting through ballot papers Voting is being done through ballot papers. Keeping in mind the security arrangements, additional police force and patrol teams have been deployed in sensitive areas.
