Bhavnagar: A woman has filed a complaint at Ranpur police station against an Ahmedabad-based tour operator who cheated and betrayed a couple, a native of Ranpur village in Botad district and residing in Surendranagar, after receiving Rs. 4.15 lakh on the pretext of taking them on Hajj, but did not take them on Hajj. According to the details received about this incident, Baiyaba Dadasaheb Parmar, originally a native of Ranpur and currently residing in Surendranagar, and her husband Dadasaheb Babasaheb Parmar, had seen an advertisement in the newspaper named Mere Garib Nawaz Tours eight years ago, wanting to go to Mecca and Medina for Hajj. They contacted this tour operator Alhaj Ghulam Mustafa Abdul Rahim Sheikh (Hajibawa) on their mobile and fixed Rs. 4.10 lakh for the Hajj. On November 24, 2018, he came to Ranpur and took an advance of Rs. 2 lakh. After that, he gave Rs. 2.05 lakh in cash in Ahmedabad and received Rs. 10,000 for passport work, making a total of Rs. 4.15 lakh. Despite paying the full amount, Hajibawa did not take the couple on the Hajj pilgrimage. Despite calling the couple several times, he did not pick up the phone. When they met in person in Ahmedabad, he wrote on a Rs. 100 stamp paper that the Hajj could not be done due to the Corona lockdown and that he would perform the Hajj in 2021. Despite this, the couple did not have to perform the Hajj. In 2023, when the couple met again at the Gaekwad Police Station in Ahmedabad, Gulam Mustafa returned Rs. 50 thousand after demanding the return of Rs. 4.15 lakh and promised to pay the remaining amount. Even after two years of this promise, Gulam Mustafa did not pay the remaining amount of Rs. 3.65 lakh. Baiyaba Dadasaheb Parmar filed a complaint against the man at the Ranpur police station for fraud and breach of trust. The police have registered a case and are investigating.
