In Kutch, import and export cargo from Kandla and Mundra ports is transported by rail, but now to transport domestic goods from Kutch to various cities of the country, the Central Warehousing Corporation has started the service of double-decker container train from Gandhidham Railway Goods Shed. Through this facility, local goods from Kutch will be able to reach various cities of the country at a lower rate. The promise to increase the scope of this train service in the future was expressed at this time. Gandhidham witnessed a historic moment in the field of logistics and railway goods transport in India. The Central Warehousing Corporation, in collaboration with the Railways, launched the double-decker container train. Samuel Praveen Kumar, Director, Central Warehousing Corporation, said that the start of the double-decker container train is not only an operational achievement, but also an important step towards taking India’s logistics infrastructure forward. He further added that since there is also a godown facility at the railway goods shed, it will be easy for traders to store and transport goods by train. This train with 90 containers of 40 feet will be able to transport 3000 metric tons of cargo including lentils, paper, shoes through container trains. He informed that in the coming time, there are plans to run three to four rakes per month from Gandhidham. Area Railway Manager Ashish Dhania expressed his commitment to be a full supporter of Indian Railways in this initiative of CWC. He said that such a project will play an important role in creating green and low-cost logistics through railways. He added that when thousands of trucks go from Kandla-Mundra, transportation will be faster with this container train and carbon emissions will also be reduced to the maximum. The container train will depart from the dedicated freight corridor, so that the train will reach Delhi in 24 hours. At this time, Rupendra Sharma, J.
