Air India’s Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft, which was going from Ahmedabad to London, crashed on Thursday (June 12). Due to which, a large number of lives were lost. So far, more than 270 people have died in this accident. At that time, the work of DNA testing of the deceased is going on on a war footing in the Kasoti Bhavan of Civil Hospital. Civil Hospital Superintendent Dr. Rakesh Joshi said, ‘DNA samples of 223 deceased have been matched in the Ahmedabad plane crash. Out of which, the families of 220 bodies have been contacted. Out of which 202 bodies have been handed over to the families. In addition, two people who were undergoing treatment at the Civil Hospital died and their bodies have also been handed over to the families. Out of which a total of 204 bodies have been handed over to the families. 15 bodies were airlifted to their residences, while 189 bodies were brought to their residences by road.’ Dr. Rakesh Joshi said, ‘DNA matches have been found for 223 deceased, including 168 Indian citizens, 7 Portuguese, 36 British citizens, 1 Canadian and 11 non-passengers i.e. locals. Of the 204 bodies handed over, 7 have been sent to Udaipur, 21 to Vadodara, 11 to Kheda, 58 to Ahmedabad, 6 to Mehsana, 1 to Botad, 1 to Jodhpur, 2 to Aravalli, 2 to Anand, 7 to Bharuch, 11 to Surat, 1 to Palanpur, 6 to Gandhinagar, 2 to Maharashtra, 14 to Diu, 1 to Junagadh, 2 to Amreli, 5 to Gir Somnath, 1 to Mahisagar, 1 to Bhavnagar, 1 to Patna, 3 to Rajkot, 9 to Mumbai, 1 to Nadiad, 2 to Jamnagar, 2 to Patan, 2 to Dwarka, 1 to Sabarkantha, 1 to Nagaland, 2 to London and 1 to Modasa.
