Good news for railway passengers, chances of confirmed tickets will increase, Railways has fixed the waiting list limit

IRCTC Confirm Tickets: Indian Railways has taken an important decision for the convenience of passengers and to control crowding in trains. The Ministry of Railways has announced that now the number of waitlist tickets in any train will be limited to 25 percent of the total capacity of the train. The aim of this new rule is to provide a better travel experience to passengers and reduce the problem of overbooking. According to reports, now the railways will issue waiting tickets for a maximum of 25 percent of the total berths/seats in AC First Class, AC Second, AC Third, Sleeper and Chair Car of each train. This change has been made keeping in mind various quotas like reserved seats for Divyangjan, senior citizens and women. Crowding in trains will also reduce According to railway officials, statistics show that by the time the chart is prepared, about 20 percent to 25 percent of waiting tickets are confirmed. On this basis, the new limit has been fixed so that passengers can get more clarity about the ticket status. After the circular issued by the Railway Board, various zonal railways across the country have started implementing this new system. For example, if 1,000 seats are available in a train, a maximum of 250 waitlist tickets will be issued. This will not only increase the chances of passengers getting their tickets confirmed, but will also reduce unnecessary crowding in the train. What was the waiting limit till now? According to the circular of January 2013, earlier a maximum of 30 waiting tickets could be issued in AC First Class, 100 in AC Second, 300 in AC Third and 400 in Sleeper Class. Due to this, passengers often worried about their tickets being confirmed till the last minute. According to a senior railway official, due to the large number of waiting tickets, passengers without confirmed tickets were boarding reserved coaches, which led to crowding and chaos in the coaches. The new policy will help prevent this chaos.
