A spark of pure love in a jewellery shop on the evening of life – Gave Rs 1120 along with small and large notes and other things: Jeweller accepted only Rs 20: 26 lakh people watched the video, one lakh comments Jalana: A 93-year-old man wearing a dhoti-jab and a top hat entered the jewellery showroom in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar with his wife on the support of a stick. The showroom owner thought that he had come for alms. But when the old man, with his loving eyes fixed on his spouse, expressed his desire that he wanted to buy a mangalsutra to gift to his wife, the showroom owner, who was overwhelmed by the loving old man’s demand, convinced him by giving him a mangalsutra for just Rs 20. A video clip of the eternal love shown by an old man in a jewellery shop on the last evening of his life went viral on social media with lightning speed. By Wednesday evening, the video had been viewed by 2.6 million people and about one lakh people had commented on it. Instead of today’s fake and opportunistic love relationships, the 93-year-old man had provided an example of unbreakable love for his spouse. Many people said that after a long time, amidst the negativity all around on the internet, they had seen a scene that made their eyes water. Someone wrote that this is proof that humanity is still alive. Someone wrote that no one needs to go to see Pandurang. Here, Pandurang has actually been seen. Some, after watching this video, expressed their resolve to help others in this way. Sakharam Shinde and Shantabai, both retired from Ambhora Jahangir Gadam in Jalna district, who were originally begging for a living, had set out on a pilgrimage to Pandharpur on the occasion of Ashadhi Ekadashi and had stopped at Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar on the way. The old man always had one regret that due to financial constraints, he could not even buy a mangalsutra, a symbol of marriage, for his wife. So the old man decided that buying a gold mangalsutra was not in his power, but if I could give him a gold-plated mangalsutra, it would be a lot. Thinking thus, the old couple went to a jewellery showroom in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. The old man had opened a bag filled with Rs 1,120, which he had collected by begging for alms, on the counter and asked for a mangalsutra. The shop owner, who was touched by the love shown by Dadaji towards his old wife, took only Rs 20 as a token from this money and lovingly gifted him a mangalsutra. According to the locals, the elderly couple live off each other. They travel everywhere together. They make a living from the alms people give them. One son died a few years ago, while the other, being addicted to drugs, does not take care of his parents. So, these two people live as each other’s support in their caste life.
