Surat Corporation: In the central zone of Surat Municipality, there has been a situation where there are piles of garbage in some areas for the last three days. People throw garbage in public because garbage trucks do not come, which poses a threat to public health. The opposition of the municipality has alleged that the work is not being done properly because the contractors are not paying salaries to the employees. Surat Municipality has given door-to-door garbage collection contracts for cleanliness in the city, but there are complaints about irregularities of the contractors in some areas. Currently, there are widespread complaints against door-to-door contractors in the central zone of the municipality. The opposition has complained that the door-to-door contractor’s vehicles are not coming to many areas in the central zone of the municipality. The opposition has complained that in many places including Jhampa Bazaar in the Central Zone, Tower Road, Saifee Street, Rampura Dutch Cemetery, Gali Vakil Street of Shahpore Sir J.J. School, Haripura Kanskiwad, the area near Lokhat Hospital, Rudarpura, Gopipura and Nanpura Mutton Market, no contractor vehicles have come for the last three days, so garbage is lying on the public road and it is stinking. Due to such a situation, there is a risk to the health of the people, hence, a demand has been made for an immediate redressal of this complaint.
