WTC Final 2025: South Africa is only 69 runs away from a historic victory in the final match of the third round (2023-25) of the World Test Championship (WTC). In this match being played at Lord’s, Australia had given South Africa a target of 282 runs. On the third day, i.e. June 13, South Africa scored 213 runs for the loss of two wickets, due to which it came close to victory. In which Aiden Markram remained unbeaten on 102 runs and captain Temba Bavuma remained unbeaten on 65 runs and now victory is expected from them on the fourth day. Bavuma’s spirit is commendable despite a hamstring injury Aiden Markram has hit 11 fours in 159 balls. Also, Temba Bavuma has hit 5 fours in 121 balls. Bavuma and Markram have so far shared a 143-run partnership for the third wicket in 232 balls. Markram has scored a century during the run chase, but the determination shown by Bavuma despite a hamstring injury is commendable. Aiden Markram’s century also looks pale in comparison to Bavuma’s brilliant innings. South Africa has not won an ICC title since winning the Knockout Trophy (now Champions Trophy) in 1998. When South Africa last won an ICC title, the team’s cricketers Marco Jensen and Tristan Stubbs were not even born. South Africa has reached the semi-finals or finals in the last few years, but has not won the trophy. In the final, the Australian team lost the toss and batted first. They scored 212 runs in their first innings. In reply, Pat Cummins took 6 wickets to bowl out South Africa for just 138 runs in their first innings. After that, based on the first innings, the Kangaroo team got a lead of 74 runs. Australia then scored 207 runs in their second innings and set a target of 282 runs for South Africa.
