Big decision by Women’s Tennis Association, players who want to become mothers will get ranking protection

It is not easy for women to make a career in any field. They have to go through many challenges. When a female player wants to become a mother, her career is also affected. But now the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) has taken a big step, which will give relief to the top 750 female players in the WTA rankings. According to the WTA, any female player who wants to become a mother or wants to get egg freezing (seed preservation process) with the intention of becoming a mother in the future will be given the opportunity to stay away from the game for some time and return with a safe ranking. The WTA said in a statement that players can now stay away from professional tennis for some time for fertility protection processes such as egg freezing and then return with a safe ranking. Due to which their career will not be affected. For this, eligible players will receive a Special Entry Ranking (SER). Which can be used for entry in three tournaments. This ranking of players will be based on the 12-week average of the previous WTA rankings before the tournament.
