CEC Gyanesh Kumar on Preparing Voter List in India: The opposition is constantly questioning the functioning of the Election Commission over irregularities in the voter list in the country. Meanwhile, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar has said, ‘Preparing voter list in India is the most difficult job in the world.’ The MP was told at the International Conference on Elections in Stockholm on Tuesday that as per the law, the voter list is shared with recognized national and state parties during the review every year and before the elections. Allegations of manipulation rejected The CEC said, ‘Since 1960, the voter list has been shared with recognized political parties, which has a provision for claims, objections and appeals. This comment by the Chief Election Commissioner came after the opposition, including the Congress, accused the Election Commission of manipulating voter data to rig the elections. The Election Commission has termed these allegations as absurd.’ Addressing the program, Gyanesh Kumar said, ‘Preparing voter lists is one of the most rigorous and transparent tasks in the world, which strengthens the accuracy and integrity of the electoral process.’
