US on Pakistan Terrorism: US Central Command chief Michael Kurilla has described Pakistan as a key partner in counter-terrorism operations. He praised Pakistan for its operation against ISIS-Khorasan (ISIS-K). Kurilla stressed, ‘Washington has to maintain relations with both India and Pakistan and there is no option to choose one over the other. That is, if Washington has relations with New Delhi, it cannot have relations with Islamabad.’ Top US general praises Pakistan Top US general Kurilla said, ‘ISIS-K is probably one of the most active organizations plotting against other countries, including the US, globally. The Taliban is taking action against ISIS-K and both these organizations hate each other. Due to this conflict, many ISIS-K members have been pushed to the tribal areas along the Afghan-Pakistan border.’ Kurila said, ‘Through an unprecedented partnership with Pakistan, they have taken action against ISIS-K and killed dozens of its members. Through our relationship for sharing intelligence, they have succeeded in capturing at least five top commanders of ISIS-K.’ Asim Munir captures Sharifullah: US military official Kurila said, ‘ISIS-K terrorist Mohammad Sharifullah, also known as Zafar, was extradited for his role in the August 26, 2021, bombing near the Hamid Karzai International Airport gate in Kabul. The attack killed 13 members of the American military and about 160 civilians. Kurila further said, ‘Sharifullah was the first person about whom Pakistan’s army chief Asim Munir called and said that I have captured him. I am ready to hand him over to the US.
