The organization has imposed this ban due to allegations of submitting fake documents in a tender issued in June this year. The notice issued by the Solar Energy Corporation of India said that this ban will also affect the subsidiaries of Reliance Power, meaning that no subsidiary of Reliance Power will be able to participate in any tender of the Solar Energy Corporation of India for the next three years. In June, the Solar Energy Corporation of India had invited bids for 1 gigawatt of solar power and 2 gigawatts of standalone battery storage. Maharashtra Energy Generation Limited, a subsidiary of Anil Ambani’s Reliance Power, had successfully bid in this tender. The company had bid the lowest price of Rs. 3.81 per unit for battery storage, which is one of the cheapest rates ever. Verification of documents submitted by Maharashtra Energy Generation Limited, now known as M/s Reliance NU BESS Limited, revealed that the bank guarantee issued by a foreign bank – Philippines-based First Rand Bank – was fake. The irregularities were discovered after the electronic reverse auction, leading SECI to cancel the entire tender process.
