This whole controversy started with a raid by the federal immigration department, which soon took the form of violence and the situation is such that protests and arson incidents are taking place at various places in the city. The police are using tear gas shells and rubber bullets to control the crowd. How did the protests start? Under President Trump’s policy, illegal immigrants are being deported from America. Under this, the immigration department is conducting raids across the country. The immigration department had also recently started a campaign against illegal immigrants in Los Angeles. People opposed this and social organizations also came out in support of the detained people. Huge crowds gathered outside detention centers where alleged illegal immigrants were being held. Police enforced restraining orders and banned public gatherings. However, the public did not listen. The Immigration Department detained 44 people on Friday, bringing the total number of immigrants arrested in Los Angeles to 118 in a week. This angered the public and led to violence.
