Kanpur, Keeping in view the continuous fall in groundwater level in the state and the looming crisis on it, “Groundwater Week” is being organized from 16 to 22 July 2025 as per the instructions of the government to increase public awareness towards its conservation, management, judicious use and regulated exploitation. In this sequence, various awareness programs are being organized in the district by the instructions of Commissioner, Kanpur Division and District Magistrate, Kanpur City. Today, under the “Groundwater Week”, a debate and dialogue program was organized by the Groundwater Department among students, principals and teachers at BNSD Inter College, Chunniganj. In this, the importance of judicious use, conservation and rainwater harvesting of groundwater was highlighted. Hydrologist Archana Singh of Groundwater Department, Block-Kanpur, Junior Engineer Gopal Kumar Gupta and other employees of the department were present in the program. Along with this, a public awareness campaign on water conservation, ground water recharge and rain water harvesting was conducted through promotional vehicles in the rural areas of Kalyanpur, Chaubepur, Shivrajpur, Bilhaur and Kakwan development blocks of the district. During this, the message of “If water is safe, tomorrow is safe” was given to the general public through posters, banners, brochures and pamphlets.
As per the instructions of the government, “Groundwater Week” was organized to increase public awareness.
