Fatehpur. In view of the current challenges of water crisis and excessive exploitation of natural resources, a one-day workshop on the subject of water conservation was organized at Dr. BR Ambedkar Government Women’s Postgraduate College. This workshop was organized under the aegis of Water Conservation Cell.
The workshop began with a floral tribute and lamp lighting on the statue of Mother Saraswati. In his inaugural speech, the Principal of the college, Dr. Rajesh Kumar Yadav, while addressing the students, teachers and the people present, underlined the social and family importance of water conservation. He especially appealed to the girl students to spread the message of water conservation in their family and society and also practice water saving in their daily lives. Dr. Yadav said that every drop of water is valuable and its conservation is essential for the protection of future generations. Many special guests and subject experts participated in the workshop and made the students aware with their views. Hydrologist Ground Water Department Aviral Singh in his lecture gave practical information about scientific methods of water conservation such as roof water harvesting, recharge wells, percolation tanks etc. In the workshop, the students were also administered the oath of water conservation. Special guest Dr. Anurag Srivastava, Chairman of Indian Red Cross Society, threw light on the global background of water crisis and emphasized the need for water management in India. A speech competition was organized on the topic of water conservation being a collective responsibility. In which the girl students of the college participated enthusiastically. Prof. Prashant Dwivedi, Sharad Chandra Rai, Dr. Charu Mishra, Dr. Madhulika Srivastava, Dr. Jyoti, Dr. Jiya Tasneem, Dr. Brijesh Kumar Pal, Anand Nath, non-teaching staff and girl students were present in large numbers in the program.
