BSF jawan Shashi Kumar Pandey, a resident of Nirkhi village under Jahanabad police station area of Fatehpur district, died untimely while on duty in the Naushera sector of Jammu and Kashmir due to cardiac arrest. When his body reached the village on Monday, a wave of mourning ran through the entire village. Amidst the mournful cries of the family members and the moist eyes of the villagers, the BSF jawans gave their last salute to their brave soldier.
Shashi Kumar Pandey was serving in the BSF since 1990. For more than three decades, he served the nation with loyalty and dedication while being posted in various border and sensitive areas of the country. In the village, he was not only known as a disciplined and hardworking jawan, but he was always a source of inspiration for the youth.
On Monday morning, a contingent of BSF reached the village with the body. Every person in the village had moist eyes. Thousands of villagers, neighbors and relatives gathered for the last darshan. BSF jawans gave the last salute to Shashi Kumar with full military honours and paid tribute by laying a wreath. After this, he was cremated with traditional customs and state honours.
On this occasion, Shashi Kumar’s younger brother said, “Brother was in BSF since 1990. He was very disciplined, honest and dutiful. He dedicated his entire life to the service of the country. We are proud of him.”
At the same time, village elder and local resident Rambabu Tiwari said, “Our village is blessed, where such a son was born. His service, his life and his sacrifice will always be a source of inspiration for the youth. We are proud of the martyrdom of this son of the soil.”
BSF officers also remembered the contribution of Shashi Kumar and said that he was a dedicated soldier, whose absence will be felt by the entire force. On behalf of the administration, the Sub-Divisional Magistrate and Tehsildar also attended the funeral and expressed condolences to the family.
There is a deep silence in the village due to the departure of Shashi Kumar Pandey, but his courageous life and patriotic spirit will always remain alive in the hearts of the youth of the village. His sacrifice will always be remembered.
