A youth arrested with hashish worth Rs 5 lakh at Kanpur Central Station

Kanpur, A joint team of Thana GRP Kanpur Central and RPF achieved a major success late Thursday night and arrested a youth with illegal hashish worth about Rs 5 lakh. The accused Toofan Mahato (age 22 years) is a resident of East Champaran district of Bihar and he was trying to take this illegal hashish to Bihar via train. According to the information given by the police, this action was taken on the night of July 17 at 2:05 pm when 03 kg 900 grams of illegal hashish was recovered during the search of a suspicious youth sitting under a peepal tree on the side of the railway track near the Harrisganj bridge. The estimated market price of hashish is estimated to be around ₹ 5,00,000. This action was taken under a special campaign being run to curb illegal activities taking place in the railways. This campaign is being conducted under the direction of Additional Director General of Police, Railway Prakash D, Superintendent of Police, Railway Prayagraj Prashant Verma and under the supervision of Deputy Superintendent of Police, Kanpur Dushyant Kumar Singh. Legal action is being taken against the accused by registering a case in GRP Kanpur Central Police Station under FIR No. 295/25 Section 8/20/22 NDPS Act.
