DGCA takes major action after Ahmedabad plane crash, all Air India Boeing Dreamliners will be inspected

After the Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad yesterday (June 12), the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) of India today issued a new order, tightening the safety inspection of all Boeing Dreamliner aircraft. The DGCA has issued this order after the Air India flight number-AI-171 crashed in the Meghaninagar area immediately after takeoff at Ahmedabad airport. The DGCA has ordered Air India to make its special inspection process mandatory before the airlines fly all its flights from June 15, 2025. The DGCA has directed that special inspections be carried out on several important technical systems before the flight, including fuel parameter monitoring, cabin air compressor system, electronic engine control test, engine fuel actuator operation, oil system and hydraulic system. The order also said that Air India should continue to conduct ‘Flight Control Inspection’ on all its planes and continue this process till further orders. The DGCA has also asked the airlines to carry out mandatory power assurance checks within two weeks. In addition, it has been ordered to review the number of technical defects that have occurred in Boeing Dreamliner aircraft in the last 15 days and complete all related maintenance work as soon as possible.
