Another revelation has been made about the fire incident at the official residence of former Delhi High Court judge Justice Yashwant Verma. The report of the high-level judicial inquiry committee has said, ‘A large amount of cash was found during the fire incident in the storeroom of Justice Verma’s official residence in Delhi on the night of March 14. In this fire, a large amount of cash kept in the storeroom was burnt due to flammable gas coming out of the liquor bottles.’ The fire broke out due to a cupboard full of liquor bottles The report of the inquiry committee has said, ‘The liquor cupboard in the storeroom was very close to the electric switch box. This was confirmed in the site inspection conducted by the committee.’ Apart from this, the report has also said, ‘Liquor is highly flammable and when the fire broke out, the bottles must have burst due to heat. Due to which the intensity of the fire increased. When water was poured from the right side, the things kept there started falling and currency notes also started appearing on the floor. According to the investigation committee report, at the time of the incident, Justice Verma was out of the city and none of his family or personal staff members had the keys to the store room. Hence, when the fire broke out, the security guards broke the lock of the store room and allowed the firefighters and police to enter inside. Due to which the cash scam came to light.
