Fire on ship going from Kandla to Oman

A ship that had set off after discharging chemicals from Kandla suddenly caught fire near Oman. The Indian Navy managed to control the fire and averted a maritime disaster. The ship, M.T.Y. Cheng-6, had left for Shinas, Oman this morning after discharging chemicals from Kandla port. Meanwhile, a fire suddenly broke out in the ship’s engine room while it was reaching the Mediterranean Sea. Due to which the complete power was lost. The captain of the ship informed the stealth frigate INS Tabar about the incident. The Indian Navy immediately reached the spot with a firefighting team and a helicopter. There were 14 crew members of Indian origin on board the ship. After reaching there, the Indian Navy made all efforts to control the fire and the fire was largely brought under control. The fire on the ship, which was heading from Kandla to Oman, was brought under control and rescue was carried out. The Indian Navy succeeded in averting a major maritime disaster.
