In a press conference at the Gujarat Legislative Assembly, Congress Party leader Shri Amitbhai Chavda said that for the last three decades, corruption has become a norm in Gujarat under the BJP rule, commission raj is running, with the blessings of those sitting in the government without any shame, shame or fear, people’s tax money is being looted openly through collusion, one after another scams are coming out. Scam of crores in Nal Se Jal Yojana, scam of crores in MNREGA, scam of crores in land and scams of not lakhs but less than crores are going on in Gujarat in a way that is not visible. Many scams have come out in GIDC before, corruption is widespread, a network is running in GIDC with a systematic method of filling its own pockets in the name of industrial development. In June, the audit department submitted a preliminary copy of the audit report of the Principal Account General. In the tenders held in GIDC, the amount decided, the contract is awarded and then crores of rupees are paid as Extra Excess. According to the serious lapses noticed in the audit report, work worth about Rs 35 crore has been given to the trusted agency without any tender. The audit also revealed that the conditions in the tender have been amended to benefit the trusted companies, despite the company providing wrong information, it has been amended and a certain company has been benefited. In particular, the company has been benefited by not paying the amount of about Rs 3.50 crore to FMG for testing which is to be recovered from that agency. In some places, equipment related to air pollution was to be fitted, especially in Dahej and Vapi areas, apart from the equipment fitting work, about Rs 6.50 crore has been paid repeatedly without its certificate. Even though the tender was already decided or the items were to be supplied to the consumer, i.e. the agency that is the tenderer, but later the conditions were revised, the expenses were also borne by GIDC. More than Rs 3.50 crore has been given to the agencies to benefit. If we look at the preliminary report, an amount of Rs 60 crore has been embezzled from GIDC by certain officials, corruption has been committed.
