Gram Panchayat Secretary found guilty in the investigation of Block Development Officer

A big fraud has come to light under the Village Development Scheme in Bhagwatpur village under Sarsawan development block of the district. Three beneficiaries were allotted houses twice each under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) in the village. Village Development Officer Manoj Singh has been found responsible for this irregularity. This was revealed when village resident Sunil Tiwari made a written complaint about this matter to the Chief Development Officer (CDO) Kaushambi. Taking the complaint seriously, the Chief Development Officer handed over the investigation to the Block Development Officer (BDO). The investigation made it clear that negligence and irregularities were committed on a large scale in the housing scheme. According to the investigation conducted by the BDO, three beneficiaries of Bhagwatpur village were given the benefit of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana twice each, causing a loss of ₹ 3.60 lakh to the government. On the basis of the report, now ₹3.60 lakh will be recovered from these three beneficiaries. The BDO has submitted the report of this entire case to the Project Director and has blamed Village Development Officer Manoj Singh. The administration is preparing for strict action The district officials are taking this entire matter seriously and are preparing for departmental action against the concerned Village Development Officer. Also, the recovery process will also be started soon. Public anger The villagers are angry about this irregularity. They say that eligible people have not received housing till date, while ineligible people are being given benefits twice. This matter raises questions on the transparency of rural development schemes and the working style of responsible officials.
