There is an alarming increase in dog bite cases in Gujarat. More than 2.41 lakh cases of dog bites are reported every year. Thus, on an average, more than 700 people become victims of dog bite problems every day. More than 29,000 cases of animal bites in Asarwa Civil Hospital An increase in dog bite cases has also been seen in Ahmedabad. More than 29,000 cases of animal bites have been registered in Asarwa Civil Hospital from 2023 to May 2025. Thus, an average of 33 patients are registered with dog bite problems in Civil every day. Asarwa Civil Hospital Superintendent Dr. Rakesh Joshi said, ‘Of all the cases of animal bites that have been reported, 95% are related to dog bites. During this period, 17789 men, 5696 women and 5721 children, including old and new cases, have been treated for animal bites. It is important to consult a doctor immediately without ignoring an animal bite.
