The Jagannath Rath Yatra is a great festival that is a center of devotion and enthusiasm all over India. On this occasion, lakhs of devotees gather in the city of Puri in Odisha. On the second day of the month of Ashadha, Lord Jagannath, along with his brother Balaram and sister Subhadra, rides a chariot to the temple of his aunt Gundicha Mata, which is considered to be his aunt’s house. There, they rest for seven days and then return to the Jagannath temple located in Puri. It is said that before the Rath Yatra, Lord Jagannath suffers from fever for 15 days, so the doors of the temple remain closed during this period. When he recovers, he rides a chariot and goes to his aunt’s house for darshan. When Lord Jagannath reaches the temple of his aunt Gundicha Mata, Mata Gundicha welcomes him with special dishes. These dishes mainly include pithados and rasgulla. When Lord Jagannath reaches his aunt Mata Gundicha, Mata Gundicha feeds him many types of dishes. Especially pithados and rasgullas. It is believed that even today the Lord is very happy to eat these pithados and rasgullas. Every year, when the Lord comes, many types of dishes are prepared in this temple and Lord Jagannath is welcomed.
