Kanpur, Taking an important step towards the social empowerment of construction workers, the Kanya Vivah Sahayata Yojana is being run by the Uttar Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board. Through this scheme, registered construction workers are provided financial assistance of โน 55,000 on the marriage of their daughters. Giving information, District Magistrate Jitendra Pratap Singh said that this scheme is being run with the aim of providing relief to the workers’ families on important social occasions like marriage. He said that this initiative of the state government is a strong link in the direction of social upliftment of workers. He said that the benefit of the scheme will be available only to those workers whose registration with the board is at least one year old, registration is active and regular contribution has been made. The date of marriage should be after the date of proposal and at the time of marriage, the age of the bride should be at least 18 years and the age of the groom should be at least 21 years. A worker can avail the benefit of this scheme only for the marriage of a maximum of two daughters. The application can be made before marriage or within 90 days of marriage. The application process is completely online and is available on the upbocw.in portal. You can apply by yourself or through CSC/Jan Seva Kendra. Documents required for application like worker registration certificate, daughter’s birth certificate, proof of age of bride and groom, marriage certificate (if married), copy of bank passbook and recent photo of the worker must be attached with the application. The District Magistrate appealed to all the registered construction workers of the district to get information about this scheme and apply on time and take advantage of it if eligible. He also said that everyone should also participate in making other eligible workers aware, so that no needy person is deprived of this assistance.
