Married woman ends her life by hanging herself, accuses in-laws of murder

Shilpi, wife of Atul, resident of village Durjanpur of police station Ochha in Mainpuri district, hanged herself to death in her maternal home. She had come to her maternal home from her in-laws’ house two days ago. According to the family members, Shilpi took this step after talking to her husband on phone at night. Shilpi’s father Sandeep Kumar told that he had married his daughter to Atul, resident of Bhagwantpur, as per his support. Everything was fine in the beginning of the marriage, but later the in-laws started harassing her for dowry. The husband often used to beat her and was demanding a car. Two days ago, Shilpi was beaten by her husband. Due to which the father called Shilpi to her maternal home. The father alleges that last night Shilpi talked to her husband on phone till 11 pm, after which she committed suicide. On receiving the information, the police took the body in their custody and sent it for post-mortem and started investigating the case.
