Tensions are rising in Belgrade, the capital of Serbia, a peaceful country in Europe. Thousands of students have taken to the streets against Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and the situation in the country has become like a civil war. Students are shouting slogans against the government and demanding a coup. It is noteworthy that the protests are no longer limited to accidents or corruption, but have turned into demands for democracy and freedom. On November 1, 2024, 16 people died when the roof of a railway station collapsed in the city of Novi Sad, Serbia. This tragic accident sparked public anger against the government’s negligence and corruption. Since then, students from universities across the country have started taking to the streets. This movement has been gradually growing for eight months and has now become a direct rebellion against Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic. Violent clashes are constantly taking place between police and students on the streets of Belgrade. Tear gas shells are being fired at the protesters, lathicharge is being carried out, but the anger of the protesters is not calming down. Slogans like ‘Vucic must go’ are echoing everywhere.
