A new change is going to happen in the voting process before the Bihar assembly elections. Bihar is going to become the first state in the country where voting through phone will be possible. Prasad gave this information on Friday. His comments came before the voting for six municipal councils in Patna, Rohtas and East Champaran on Saturday. However, it is not clear at present whether voting through phone will be done in the upcoming assembly elections. Giving more information about this, Bihar Election Commissioner Deepak Prasad said that this facility will be available for those who cannot go to the polling station and vote. He said that to vote online, an app must be installed in the voters’ phones. Senior citizens, disabled people, pregnant women and voters living in other states can take advantage of this facility. The State Election Commission also ran an awareness campaign in this regard from June 10 to 22. Prasad said, to take advantage of this facility, voters will have to install the E-SECBHR app. After this, it will have to be linked with the number added in the voter list. This app will currently work only on Android phones. This app has been developed by the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing, while there is another app which has been developed by the Bihar Election Commission. The biggest fear regarding e-voting is the possibility of tampering. In such a situation, answering this question, the Election Commission said that the voting process should be easy and fair. And many efforts have been made to maintain transparency. For example, only two registered voters will be allowed to log in using one mobile number. Apart from this, each lot will be checked and verified using the voter identity card. Apart from this, voters who do not have a mobile phone can also cast e-votes on the Bihar Election Commission website.
