Before the next meeting of the GST Council, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is going to hold an important meeting with the officials of the CBIC on June 20. There is a meeting with the officials of the Income Tax Department on the 20th, but the meeting with the CBIC is being considered more important due to issues including change in the GST rate and compensation cess. According to sources, the 12 percent slab can be removed from the GST and the items included in it can be shifted to 5 percent and 18 percent as per the requirement. The GST Council meeting will be held after the meeting with the CBIC. The GST Council meeting has not been called for the last six months. According to the currency, it is necessary to call the GST Council meeting once in every three months. In the meeting held last December, it was decided that the GST rate will be discussed in the next meeting. So that the slab can be changed. A group of ministers was formed for this and according to sources, the group has submitted a report to the council. According to sources, the 12 percent slab may be removed from GST. The items included in this slab will be included in the five and 18 percent slabs. At present, GST has slabs of 3, 5, 15, 18 and 28 percent. In such a situation, on the 20th, the ministry officials led by the Finance Minister will discuss the change in the rate with the CBIC because the government wants to ensure that the change in the slab does not lead to any reduction in GST collection.
