Researchers from the Botany Department of M.S. University have achieved a remarkable feat of growing seedless tomatoes. As part of a project of the Government’s Science and Engineering Board, Maitri Trivedi, Krishna Tandel and Parthvi Joshi, under the guidance of Senior Professor of Botany Department Prof. Sunil Singh, conducted the above research. They say that we have identified some genes in tomato plants that play an important role in the development of tomato plants. We have been successful in controlling one of these genes. Due to which seedless tomatoes have been grown. These tomatoes can remain unspoiled for a longer time than the tomatoes currently sold. Along with this, there is a possibility of increasing the lifespan of the tomato plant and its leaves.
