Shubanshu Shukla leaves for Earth from International Space Station, will splash down in California tomorrow

The Indian Air Force’s Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla and his team have left space to return to Earth after completing a historic journey to the International Space Station (ISS). Shubhanshu Shukla and his teammate left for the Ax-4 mission on June 26, 2025, from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center on SpaceX’s Dragon spacecraft. The mission includes veteran American astronaut Peggy Whitson as commander and other members Szasz Uznanski of Poland and Tibor Kapu of Hungary. Shubhanshu Shukla will return to Earth tomorrow after spending 18 days on the International Space Station. All four of them have orbited the Earth more than 250 times, covering a distance of more than 6 million miles. During the 17-day journey, the spacecraft team conducted more than 60 scientific experiments, including research on microalgae and a new centrifugation technique. Shubhashun Shukla and the team held a farewell ceremony yesterday (July 13). After that, today (July 14), they left the ISS to return to Earth. They will splash down on the California coast tomorrow (July 15) at approximately 3 pm. According to ISRO, after returning to Earth, Shubhashun Shukla will undergo a 7-day rehabilitation program, so that he can feel good in the Earth’s gravity.
