Surat Municipality will become the first city in the country to announce a green e-vehicle policy before July 15

The Surat Municipal Corporation announced the e-vehicle policy five years ago, which is now going to expire. Due to which Surat is planning to announce a green e-vehicle policy in the coming days. In this new policy, the municipality is planning to give 50 percent exemption in vehicle tax in the e-vehicle policy. Since this implementation is likely to hit the municipality’s vehicle tax revenue, the municipality will demand a grant from the central government. Surat Municipality can probably announce it by July 15 and after this announcement, Surat can become the first city in the country to announce such a policy. Surat Municipality is going to make a new green e-vehicle policy and a draft is currently being prepared for it. After the draft of this policy is ready, a proposal will be presented to the rulers and it will be kept for approval in the standing committee and general meeting. In this policy, it is being planned to provide 50 percent relief in vehicle tax payable to the municipality for those who purchase e-vehicles. The municipality will provide 50 percent relief in vehicle tax, which may lead to a decrease in revenue.
