Tripura has become the third fully literate state after Goa and Mizoram. Its literacy rate is recorded at 95.6 percent. The state’s literacy rate has been above 90 percent for the last decade. The Union Education Minister gave information about this. Union Education Minister Preeti Meena said in a program that Tripura has become the third fully literate state after Mizoram and Goa. Tripura has been declared a fully literate state in line with UNESCO’s definition of 95 percent literacy rate. According to the report of the Periodic Labor Survey 2023-24, Tripura’s literacy rate was recorded at 93.7 percent. However, due to the current success of the ‘Ullas’ campaign, this figure has increased to 95.6 percent. According to the criteria set by the Central Government, states and Union Territories that achieve literacy of more than 95 percent are given the status of fully literate. Meena further said that the Central Government aims to make India a fully literate nation by 2030 through Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through various schemes. There is an appeal to the novices to continue their education. So that in the 2027 census, Tripura is recorded as a fully literate state. The Government of India had earlier launched a centrally sponsored scheme ‘ULLAS’ for 2022-2027 which covers all aspects of ‘Education for All’ (earlier known as Adult Education) in line with the National Education Policy 2020.
